Cookies Policy
This policy describes how Asteria Quant (a service of Quant Algorithm Tree System Ltd) uses cookies and similar technologies on asteriaquant.com, and how you can control them.
1. What are cookies
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you access a website. Similar technologies include browser localStorage, session storage, and pseudonymous analytics identifiers. Together we call these "cookies" in this policy for simplicity.
Cookies can be:
- First-party — set by asteriaquant.com itself.
- Third-party — set by external services we use (for example, our error-monitoring or analytics provider).
- Session — deleted when you close the browser.
- Persistent — stored for a defined period (we never use them for advertising profiles).
2. Cookie categories we use
| Category | Required? | Purpose | Examples |
|---|---|---|---|
| Necessary | Always on | Sign-in session, security checks, anti-abuse, language and theme preferences. The site does not function without these. | asteriaAuth (JWT session), asteriaCookiePrefs (your consent choice), asteriaTheme, anti-CSRF tokens. |
| Analytics | Optional · opt-in | Aggregated, pseudonymous usage metrics so we know which pages are useful. No advertising profile is built. | First-party analytics events posted to /api/v1/analytics/event/; pseudonymous session identifier in sessionStorage. |
| Marketing | Optional · opt-in | Measure which referral channels brought you. Off by default. We currently run no third-party advertising cookies regardless. | Referral source attribution; reserved for future use. |
3. How to manage your preferences
You decide. When you first visit asteriaquant.com you see a banner with three buttons:
- Accept all — enables every category.
- Essential only — only Necessary cookies.
- Preferences — open a modal and toggle Analytics and Marketing individually.
You can change your choice at any time from the Cookie settings link in the footer of every page.
You can also clear cookies via your browser's settings. Doing so will sign you out and reset your preferences to the default ("Essential only").
4. Third-party services that may set cookies
When the corresponding category is enabled and the provider is configured:
- Error monitoring — a Sentry-compatible error tracker (no advertising profile, no PII).
- Analytics provider — Plausible or Fathom-style cookieless analytics (no advertising profile, no cross-site tracking).
- Hero Payments — when you visit a hosted checkout page, the processor may set its own cookies under its own privacy policy.
Each provider operates under its own privacy and cookie policy. We only share the minimum data needed for the service to work.
5. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
Our cookie banner respects your explicit consent choice rather than browser-level "Do Not Track" or Global Privacy Control headers, because these signals are not reliably propagated. If you want analytics off, choose "Essential only" or use the Preferences modal.
6. Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookies Policy when our practices change. Material changes will be indicated by an updated "Effective" date at the top of this page, and — where required by applicable law — by an in-product notice.
